FEES

  • The fees amount to EUR 3.000 euros. This sum represents only 70% of the actual cost of the course for each student, as the remaining 30% is subsidised by Fundación Santillana and UAM itself.
  • Such fees grant the student access to all the classes taught at the University-Specific Master’s Course, both theoretical and practical, as well as the learning materials furnished during the course. These fees also enable the student to use all the resources available at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (library, administrative services, sports facilities, employment counselling, insurance, medical assistance, etc.). Furthermore, exam costs, diploma issuance costs and student’s card costs are covered by the fees, as are an official UAM email account and access to practicum at the institutions listed above.
  • Possibility of payment in instalments: Fees may also be paid in two instalments: one EUR 1500 instalment at the time of enrolment and another EUR 1500 instalment in the month of April.

MASTER’S SCHOLARSHIPS

At least 5 Master’s scholarships will be granted to cover tuition fees. Scholarships may be granted in full or in part, the latter covering only half of the fees or even a smaller portion of them.

Scholarships must be applied for in the application form. Only the applications of those who have marked the scholarship application box in the form and who have enclosed their academic records and the required documentation will be considered. Scholarships will be awarded in the month of October of each course period.

Under no circumstances will scholarships include the candidates’ living or accommodation expenses.

The Master’s Course authorities will inform each of the applicants via email whether or not their applications have been accepted, and the candidate granted the scholarship will have one week to accept it. Eligibility for scholarships will be determined by the candidates’ curriculum vitae, their academic status, and their potential, as well as their place of residence.

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

CRITERIA CONSIDERED FOR THE GRANT OF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THE MASTER’S COURSE IN GOVERNANCE AND HUMAN RIGHTS (UAM’S UNIVERSITY-SPECIFIC MASTER’S COURSE TAUGHT AT THE FACULTY OF LAW).

  • Gender parity.
  • Preference will be given to the CVs of applicants including professional experience and education details in the area of development cooperation, institutions for the guarantee of fundamental rights (constitutional courts, ombudsperson’s offices, attorney general’s offices, parliaments, etc.) and international guarantee organisations (UN, European Council, EU, Inter-American Court, etc.). Such experience favours getting the maximum advantage out of the contents and education goals of the Master’s course.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Academic records
  • In the event of similar CVs or doubts, the place of residence of the applicant and, as a result, the actual cost of taking the Master’s course (travel, accommodation, etc.) will be taken into consideration.
  • Other merits mentioned by the applicant.
  • Since we are not able to assess the economic situation of scholarship applicants with a minimum of homogeneity due to the fact that the applications come from different countries, the Master’s authorities have decided to facilitate the payment of fees as much as possible through an extension in the term or the addition of more instalments so that no student has to abandon the course for financial reasons.
  • UAM student and alumni status will also be favourably considered for the scholarship selection process.

A COMMISSION FORMED BY THE DIRECTORS, COORDINATORS AND ACADEMIC SECRETARY WILL BE CREATED TO DECIDE ON THE APPLICATION SELECTION PROCESS. THE COMMISSION APPROVES TWO LISTS, ONE FOR THE APPLICANTS WHO OBTAIN EITHER THE SCHOLARSHIPS OR GRANTS AND ANOTHER ONE FOR THE SUBSTITUTES THAT MAY OBTAIN THE SCHOLARSHIP IF ANY OF THE SELECTED CANDIDATES SHOULD DECLINE IT.
